Planted

There’s a great episode of “The Simpsons” that parodies a sad environmentalist prediction, the loss of trees due to continuing deforestation. In the future oriented episode, a college aged Lisa kicks a nearby tree hologram to bring it back to life. The hologram stands in memory of a tree, because human activity has all but destroyed them.

Between deforestation, melting icecaps, and extreme temperatures, the future of plant life does, indeed, seem grim. Our predictions aren’t as morbid as those of Matt Groening, but we do assume adjustments will have to be made.In light of these assessments, we feel it’s necessary to evaluate the faith of the common houseplant. Does the plant go the way of artificial Christmas trees, or does greenery take on new more high tech forms. If natural plant life disappears, how do we fill gap?

You're tasked with creating the “houseplant” of the future. Tell me what you’re new plant does, show us what it looks like, and feel free to make predictions about the faith of plant life as a whole. For some inspiration check out some of these innovative redefinitions of “greenery.” From dirt powered LED lamps, to carbon sucking and solar powered trees, plant life has never looked like this:

Solar Trees for me!

In the future plants (both outdoors and indoors), will be become more important and “in the news” as deforestation continues and strip malls replace fields and parks; at some point they will become like the animals on the Endangered Species List and more and more people will demand they be preserved.  I see a popular future plant (or “fant”), being one that efficiently absorbs noxious fumes in home (from pets, a gassy spouse, etc.), and replaces them with pure, clean oxygen.

Cool concept.  I would have to think the plant of the future would be a robotic mechanism capable of producing condensed food pellets.  In keeping with the motif of “humans will eventually destroy everything good and natural on the face of the earth”, we know humanity will inevitably kill off all other forms of nutrition on the planet, so when the nuclear winter comes around it would be nice to have an aritificial food source in everyone’s home.  It would have a silver stem and one red leaf and one blue leaf.  Each leaf would really be the handle of a lever.  When depressed, the lever would drop a matching colored food pellet out of a concelaed opening at the base of the stem.  Then you could choose whether you wanted the red pill or the blue bill for dinner, and get nostalgic about the matrix while you were at it.

A solar tree is a decorative means of producing solar energy. It uses multiple solar panels which form the shape of a tree by assistance of poles.outdoor solar lighting

A solar tree by name is self explanatory, It comprises of several solar panels which develop into the form of a tree by way of poles and or pillars and is now an attractive method of generating renewable energy.Display Energy Certificates
